The Litigation team represented a Garda who had been injured in a ramming incident during the course of his duties.  He sustained back, neck and psychological injury.  He applied for permission to retire on grounds of ill health arising out of the injuries and for a Special Pension.  The State refused to deal with the application and in fact instituted disciplinary proceedings.  Both decisions were successfully challenged in the High Court and he was finally awarded a Special Pension and did retire from the Force. The firm then represented the Garda in his Garda Siochana Compensation Act Claim and successfully obtained an award in excess of €750,000.00. The case was fought tooth and nail by the State who disputed the extent of the injuries considerably.  The Court vindicated the Garda and found that his evidence was truthful and accepted the medical evidence that the firm produced, which showed that he had sustained a significant injury in the ramming incident.
