At Ernest J. Cantillon & Co., we have represented and assisted numerous clients in relation to the inquest on the death of a loved one.

Inquests are a legal enquiries which arise when a death occurs in the possible following circumstances:-

  1. in a violent or unnatural manner
  2. suddenly and from unknown causes
  3. in a place or in circumstances which…require that an inquest be held.

Inquests are usually held in a Courthouse or other suitable location at the discretion of the Coroner. They are held in public and reporters/media are entitled to attend.

Legal representatives, relatives or the personal representatives of the deceased may make submissions and examine any witness.
