The Succession Act, 1965 and the Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act 2010 (enacted but currently pending Commencement Order), is the legal code in Ireland governing wills and intestacy (the administration of an estate where no will was made). There are certain laws governing duties/obligations to one’s children (regardless of age) and provisions allowing for unsatisfied relatives to challenge a will or indeed seek to have it overturned, if certain criteria are met.
