It has been announced that provisional terms of reference for an Inquiry into the foster home in the South East where residents suffered horrific abuse is to be given to Disabilities Minister Finian McGrath this week.

The provisional terms were first announced before the General Election in February.

The inquiry follows the harrowing details which have emerged of people with severe intellectual disabilities being abused in the home over a twenty year period.  It has been reported that the abuse involved some of the more than 40 vulnerable children and adults who were placed in the care of the home and some of which occurred at a time when the HSE/Health Board were aware of concerns of abuse.

Some seven years after whistle blowers sough to highlight the abuse and neglect, Cantillons urge the State to finally look into what happened in this house in an open and transparent manner to give some answers to victims and their family members.
