Jody Cantillon and the Litigation Team at Cantillons Solicitors recently settled a significant compensation claim arising out of a car accident where a pedestrian was knocked down while walking on the side of the road.

Our client was walking on the side of the road when he was struck by a car travelling at speed.  Needless to say, our client suffered serious physical injuries, requiring numerous surgeries.  Our client also suffered psychological injuries.

The matter was originally submitted to PIAB, however, given the complexity of the injuries involved, PIAB, having considered the PIAB Book of Quantum, were unable to assess the matter and it was released.

We issued High Court proceedings on behalf of our client claiming compensation for pain and suffering, out of pocket expenses and our client’s loss of earnings.

The case ultimately settled for significant compensation, without our client having to give evidence in Court.  As part of the settlement, our client’s legal fees were paid by the Defendant.

* In contentious business, a Solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement.  Many Personal Injury Solicitors portray themselves as “no win no fee Solicitors Cork”. This term can be misleading and it is essential that you discuss fees with the Personal Injury Solicitor you ultimately choose. At Cantillons Solicitors, we are entirely transparent.
