COMPENSATION FOR BUSINESS LOSSES INCURRED AS A RESULT OF A ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
Tuesday 9 February 2021

Jody Cantillon and the Litigation Team at Cantillon Solicitors represented a business which suffered losses, including loss of profits, as a result of road traffic accident.

In summary, our client was in a line of business which required a very specialist vehicle.  Without that vehicle, the business could not function.   Through no fault of our client, the specialised vehicle was involved in a road traffic accident, which resulted in it being off the road for in or around a year. This greatly affected our client’s ability to conduct its business and thus, it suffered a loss of profits.   It also suffered a loss as the vehicle was written off.    Given the specialised nature of the vehicle, it was not easy to find a replacement and thus, the loss continued for some time.

The case was listed for hearing, but settled in advance of the hearing, without our client having to go to Court.  Our client received significant compensation for the loss of business and business interruption.

* In contentious business, a Solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement.  Many Personal Injury Solicitors portray themselves as “no win no fee Solicitors Cork”. This term can be misleading and it is essential that you discuss fees with the Personal Injury Solicitor you ultimately choose. At Cantillons Solicitors, we are entirely transparent.
