Liam Dunford and Ernest Cantillon at Cantillons Solicitors recently successfully represented a member of An Garda Síochána in the High Court who suffered serious personal injuries as a result of a violent assault on him whilst on duty. The case was heard remotely, with the Client attending at our offices and was able to watch on-line his case being presented by his Counsel to the Judge (remotely). The Client had already sworn a very comprehensive Affidavit which had set out fully the details of his assault, the injuries sustained to him (supported by medical reports) and details of his out of pocket expenses.
After reading the comprehensive Affidavit and listening to Counsel the Court awarded our client compensation in line with his injuries plus all of his out of pocket expenses, plus costs. Our Client was very happy with the result as he avoided the stress of having to attend Court more particularly in these current times.
Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic the High Court Garda Compensation List is been heard remotely and we at Cantillons Solicitors are actively engaging in this new procedure to ensure that cases are moved along and listed for hearing when ready.
In contentious business, a Solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement. Many Personal Injury Solicitors portray themselves as “no win no fee Solicitors Cork”. This term can be misleading and it is essential that you discuss fees with the Personal Injury Solicitor you ultimately choose. At Cantillons Solicitors, we are entirely transparent.
Cantillons Solicitors is OPEN. We are meeting new and existing clients at our office at 39 South Mall, Cork. We have taken the necessary precautions within our office to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those who attend at our office. For those not in a position to attend in person at our office, we can facilitate online meetings (via Zoom and Skype). Please feel free to call us on +353 21 4275673 or email us on [email protected].
